This just in about the grant proposal I had out for my documentary “Without Shelter”…

The Ventura County Arts Council Board of Directors met last evening to review the recommendations of the Artists in Community Partnerships Grants Program Review Panel. They approved the Panel’s recommendation to fund you with the additional contribution from the ACTION Foundation. A confirmation letter will be mailed to you shortly. If you have any questions please let us know. Thank you for participating in our first round of ArtsLIVE in Ventura County grants for artists.

Without Shelter – Ventura County contains between 8000 and 10,000 homeless. Without Shelter is a documentary film, bringing to light the organizations in Ventura County who are working to alleviate the challenges faced by the homeless population on a daily basis — as seen through the eyes of an individual person living on the streets.

Now I need to meditate a bit on this task and find the right approach to create a film that will highlight and honor the work that is being done, and the huge task ahead of those that need these services.

I have been offered an opportunity to write a grant proposal that is being given by the James Irvine Foundation. The goal of the grant is to develop relationships between artists and community organizations to further artistic endeavors. For this project I am going to pitch the idea of creating Without Shelter – a documentary film.

Without Shelter is a documentary film, bringing to light the organizations in Ventura County who are working to alleviate the challenges faced by the homeless population on a daily basis — as seen through the eyes of an individual person living on the streets.
